The prevention of crime branch (PCB) in Ahmedabad nabbed three in the case of illegal liquor smuggling to Gujarat from Rajasthan on Oct 21.

The bottles of alcohol were smuggled in the barrels of chemicals by a bootlegger from Rajasthan’s Udaipur to evade the police checks.

A tip-off was received by PCB

MC Chaudhary, PI with PCB, had received a tip-off that the bootleggers in Rajasthan are using transport services to smuggle liquor in Gujarat. Acting on that, Chaudhary raided a transport company in Sagar Estate near Ujala Circle in Ahmedabad.

The metal barrels at the transport company were broken to reveal foreign liquor in them.

Moreover, the police set up a watch to nab the takers for the barrel, which included a Madhusinh Rajput from Karamsad, Ananad; Rizwan Vora and Razak Pathan from Bakrol, Anand.

412 bottles worth ₹6.55 lakh seized

At the site, the police checked 52 barrels, seizing 412 liquor bottles worth ₹6.55 lakh.

The preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the liquor was smuggled by Udaipur-based bootleggers Ishwar Rajput and Laxman Sisodia from Delhi to Ahmedabad.

The police suspect that this modus operandi to smuggle the liquor was implemented by the bootleggers several times.
