Pawan Hans helicopter makes emergency sea landing in Andaman, all seven onboard safe

A helicopter operated by government-run Pawan Hans was forced to make an emergency landing in the Andaman Sea on Monday after developing a technical snag mid-flight. Thanks to the pilot’s swift action and presence of mind, all seven people onboard were rescued safely without any injuries.
According to officials, the helicopter was flying from Port Blair to Mayabunder when the technical malfunction occurred. The pilot carried out a controlled landing on the water near Mayabunder at around 9.30 am.
The aircraft was carrying two crew members and five passengers. Rescue teams rushed to the spot immediately after the incident and evacuated all occupants safely. Authorities confirmed that everyone onboard is in stable condition.
A spokesperson for Pawan Hans stated that the helicopter was involved in a precautionary short landing due to a technical issue and emphasised that there were no reports of injuries.
The incident comes amid growing concerns over aviation safety following a recent air ambulance crash in Jharkhand’s Chatra district, in which all seven people onboard lost their lives. The cause of that crash remains under investigation.
Further inquiries into the Andaman helicopter incident are underway.
