Patient dies after ambulance fails to reach his house due to waterlogging in Ahmedabad

A patient in dire need of treatment in Ahmedabad’s Nikol, allegedly lost his life after an ambulance failed to his doorstep due to waterlogging after heavy rains.
The family has alleged that Jitubhai’s life could have been saved if it was not for the negligence of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
Ahmedabad witnessed heavy rains on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, leading to waterlogging in many parts of the city.
As per sources, around 2.5 feet of water had accumulated in the Madhumalti Awas Yojana in Nikol, where the deceased lived, ruling out any possibility for the ambulance or any emergency vehicle to reach the house.
Jitubhai, who was injured after he slipped and fell, was then reportedly taken to a nearby hospital on a pedal rickshaw. During treatment, Jitubhai lost his life, and his body was sent to Civil Hospital for autopsy.
Earlier this month, a young man had died of electrocution after he came in contact with an electric pole in the Doodhwali Pol of Ahmedabad’s Gheekanta.
