Passenger rickshaw overturns on Bavla-Bagodara highway, one dead, 5 injured

A tragic accident occurred early Saturday morning on the Bavla–Bagodara highway in Ahmedabad, where a passenger rickshaw overturned near the Kerala Bridge, resulting in the death of the driver.
According to reports, the rickshaw driver lost control of the steering while descending the bridge, causing the vehicle to overturn violently. The impact was so severe that the rickshaw jumped the divider and landed on the opposite side of the road.
The deceased driver has been identified as Kanaksinh Zala.
As per reports, 60-year-old Himatsinh Dodiya, a farmer originally from Daduka village in Sanand and currently residing in Bavla, was returning early in the morning after attending a religious event (Lok Dayro) at Mogal Dham in Bhayla. He was seated in the front of the rickshaw, while six other passengers, including women, were seated at the back.
The accident occurred around 4 am near Kanhaiya Hotel after the rickshaw descended the Kerala Bridge. Following the crash, locals rushed to the scene and informed the 108 ambulance service.
Medical staff declared the driver dead on the spot. Himatsinh sustained serious injuries, including fractures in his shoulder and leg, and was shifted to Maharshi Hospital in Bavla for treatment. Other passengers also suffered minor injuries and were taken for treatment in private vehicles.
Bavla police have registered a case based on the complaint of the injured Himatsinh Dodiya. The driver’s body has been sent for postmortem, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
