Parking slip dispute at Christmas DJ event turns violent in Ahmedabad, law student files complaint

A Christmas night outing to a DJ programme ended in violence after a dispute over a parking slip escalated into an assault, prompting a complaint at the Sola High Court police station in Ahmedabad.
According to the complaint filed by Arsh Manojbhai Soni (23), a law graduate engaged in business and legal practice, the incident occurred around 10 pm on December 25 at an open ground behind SGVP, where a 'Dune DJ Night' event was organised.
Soni stated that he, along with his friends Bhashit Bhatt and Arhan Pathak, had arrived at the venue in two cars and parked them in the designated parking area after paying ₹500 in total to valet staff, who issued a parking slip. The trio left the programme early as they did not enjoy the event and began exiting the parking lot around 10 pm.
As Bhatt and Soni were driving out, two valet parking attendants allegedly stopped them and demanded the parking slip. When Soni informed them that the slip was not available, the attendants allegedly insisted on fresh payment. The complainant said he refused, following which the two men became aggressive, abused them and asked them to step out of the car.
The complaint alleges that the attendants then smashed the left-side window of the car, forcibly opened the door, tore Soni’s T-shirt and assaulted him with a stick during the scuffle. In the altercation, a gold chain weighing around two tolas that Soni was wearing was broken.
Soni said he called the event organiser, identified as Manav Chandra, to intervene. Before the organiser arrived, more people gathered at the spot, including a man identified as Nihar Desai, a resident of Satellite. The complainant alleged that he and his friend were further assaulted during this period.
When the organiser reached the scene, the matter was temporarily defused and an apology was offered, after which Soni was asked to leave. However, he alleged that as he was leaving, the accused threatened him with dire consequences, including death threats.
The complainant has named his friends Bhashit Bhatt and Arhan Pathak as witnesses and sought a legal investigation into the incident. Further investigation is underway to identify and trace the accused involved in the assault.
