A dispute over roadside parking escalated into a violent confrontation in the Ramol area of Ahmedabad on Friday afternoon, leaving an elderly man and his two grandsons injured. Police have registered a case against three for allegedly assaulting the victims with sticks and stones.

The complaint lodged by 65-year-old Hirabhai Dahyabhai Bharwad, a resident living near Sindhwai Temple on Ramol Road, the incident occurred at around 3.30 pm on June 12.

Hirabhai told police that he heard a commotion outside his house and rushed out to find his grandson Vishal engaged in an argument with a neighbour, Shankar Bharwad. Shankar’s father, Naranbhai Bharwad, and his uncle, Ranabhai Bharwad, had also gathered at the spot and were allegedly arguing with Vishal.

The dispute reportedly began after Vishal objected to a rickshaw and a two-wheeler allegedly parked in a manner that obstructed access to the family’s four-wheeler. When he asked for the vehicles to be moved, an argument broke out.

Hirabhai intervened and attempted to defuse the situation. However, the confrontation intensified, with the accused allegedly hurling abuses and physically attacking him and his grandson.

The accused allegedly assaulted Hirabhai and Vishal with sticks. During the altercation, Hirabhai’s other grandson, 17-year-old Shakti, arrived at the scene and was also allegedly attacked. Ranabhai is accused of striking Shakti on the head with a stick, causing injuries. Vishal was allegedly hit on the leg while attempting to shield his younger cousin.

The complainant further alleged that Shankar picked up a stone and threw it at him, striking him in the chest. Local residents intervened and prevented further violence before arranging medical assistance.

The injured trio were taken to LG Hospital, where Hirabhai and Shakti were undergoing treatment at the time the complaint was recorded.

Based on the complaint, Ramol Police have registered a case against Shankar Bharwad, Naranbhai Bharwad, and Ranabhai Bharwad, all residents of the same locality. Police have launched an investigation into the incident

Officials said further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
