BSF Gujarat Inspector General Abhishek Pathak stated on Friday that Pakistan had sent over 500 drones toward the Gujarat border, all of which were successfully shot down by Indian defense systems. His statement came during a press conference regarding Operation Sindoor, which followed a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22.

After the Pahalgam attack, India launched retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation resulted in multiple militant casualties. IG Pathak said that the Indian strikes were precise and did not target any civilian or military installations.

Following the Indian offensive, Pakistan reportedly attempted missile and drone attacks, but all were intercepted and destroyed mid-air by Indian Air Defense forces. According to IG Pathak, no harm was caused to any civilian or security personnel during these attempted strikes.

“After May 8, Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks. However, the Indian Air Defense System performed exceptionally well, preventing any damage,” IG Pathak said.

He also highlighted the role of women personnel in the operation, saying, “More than 800 female BSF personnel are deployed in Gujarat, and during the operation, many were stationed on the frontlines. I want to mention Assistant Commandants Amandeep and Niti Yadav, who led their companies in the most challenging marshy terrains.”
