Data shared in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly has highlighted a significant number of missing children and women cases in major cities and districts of the state between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025.

In Ahmedabad City, police received nearly 633 complaints of missing children and 17 of missing women over the two-year period. However, around 569 children and 17 women were successfully traced and reunited with their families during the same time period.

Authorities employed multiple strategies to locate the missing individuals. Relatives of the missing persons were thoroughly questioned, photographs were circulated to concerned police stations, and mobile numbers were traced. Checks were also conducted at child care homes and Nari Gruh (women's protection homes). The CID Crime's Missing Cell formed dedicated teams, while special drives were launched. Details of missing persons were regularly uploaded and monitored on the central Mission Vatsalya portal, which aids in tracking vulnerable and missing children.

In Vadodara City, 216 missing complaints were registered — 214 involving children and 2 involving women. During the same period, 204 children and both women were found.

Meanwhile, in Ahmedabad district (excluding the city limits), 171 children and 3 women went missing over the two years. This included 84 children reported missing in 2024 and 90 in 2025. Taluka-wise breakdowns showed 54 children missing from Daskroi, 23 each from Dholka and Bavla, 25 from Sanand, and 20 from Viramgam.
