Over 53k qualify NET 2023, only 71 clear Guj language paper

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the results of the National Eligibility Test (NET) on Jan 22. The exams for which were conducted in December last year.

A total of 9,45,872 candidates were registered, out of which 6,95,928 appeared for the exam.

The results revealed that 53,762 candidates have cleared the test across the country, qualifying for assistant teachers’ positions in colleges. 

A total of 5,032 candidates qualified for junior research fellowships (JRF) and assistant professor.

However, only 71 candidates cleared the Gujarati language subject in the exam.

60 out of 71 qualified for assistant professor while 11 qualified for a junior research fellowship. Of this, 14 qualified in the open category while 15 qualified in the reserved seat quota.

Assistant professors in defence studies were required to meet a minimum cutoff of 200, while the junior research fellowships were required to meet a minimum cutoff of 222.

The NTA conducted NET in 83 languages between Dec 14 and Dec 19, 2023, in 15 shifts within 8 days.

University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) or NTA UGC NET is a national-level exam conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for only assistant professor or both junior research fellowship (JRF) and assistant professor posts in Indian universities and colleges.
