Over 400 fall ill after consuming mango juice and paneer at wedding in Dahod, hospitals overwhelmed

More than 400 guests fell ill after having food at a wedding in Abhlod village of Garbada taluka in Dahod district, causing panic across the area. The affected people reported symptoms like diarrhea and vomiting, and emergency medical treatment was immediately initiated.
According to reports, the wedding took place on Monday around 6 pm in Ablod village, where a large number of people had gathered for the meal. Shortly after eating, many guests began experiencing severe discomfort along with vomiting and diarrhea.
The situation escalated quickly, leading to an emergency-like scenario in the village, with arrangements similar to a medical camp. Patients were rushed to hospitals using 108 ambulances and private vehicles.
Around 200 patients have been admitted to various private hospitals, while another 200 are being treated within the village itself by a special team of doctors. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported so far, although some patients are in critical condition and are under constant observation.
As soon as authorities were informed, teams from the district health department and food safety department reached Ablod village. Preliminary investigation suggests that the food poisoning may have been caused by the mango juice (aamras) and paneer curry served at the wedding.
Health officials have collected food samples from the venue and sent them to a laboratory for testing. Authorities have assured that strict legal action will be taken under the Food and Drugs Act if any negligence by caterers or others is found.
