Over 30 lakh IMFL bottles, 2 lakh litres of country made liquor seized in one year in Gujarat

A so-called dry state with strict prohibition laws, liquor smuggling remains rampant in Gujarat. According to the information provided by the state government in the Legislative Assembly, in the past year, around 30 lakh bottles of foreign liquor and 2,00,000 liters of country liquor have been seized. 

The Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi assured that strict action will be taken against the bootleggers. Apart from liquor, drugs like charas, opium, and marijuana have also been seized.

During the recent operations, 50 kgs of opium and 500 kgs of marijuana were seized. Additionally, a large amount of liquor was confiscated from various districts, along with the arrest of numerous bootleggers.

In Dahod taluka, 902 kg of opium, 268 kg of marijuana, and 113 kg of other drugs were seized. Additionally, over 2 kg of drugs were recovered from a village near Patan. During the past year, police have arrested numerous individuals involved in liquor smuggling and drug trafficking across the state.
