More than 14.52 lakh voters from Ahmedabad district have been marked as missing following the publication of the draft electoral roll, according to data released after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

Officials said that out of a total 62.59 lakh registered voters in the district, enumeration forms of 48.09 lakh voters have been digitised. This leaves around 23% of voters 1,452,816 individuals whose forms were not returned. The reasons cited include death, absence during verification, permanent migration, and other causes.

The district election machinery claimed that 100% field-level work under the SIR drive has been completed. To assist voters, a Voter Assistance Centre has been set up at the collector’s office, while more than 50 assistance centres have been established across the district. These include all Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) offices in the district’s 21 assembly constituencies, along with other government offices.

The draft electoral roll will be available at all these centres. Voters can submit claims and objections either at the centres or online through the Voters Helpline App, district authorities said.

Officials also informed that voters can use Forms 6, 7, and 8 to add new names, report migration, or request corrections. Information can also be obtained through the district election office’s toll-free helpline number 1950.

The District Election Officer and Collector said a proposal has been sent to the office of the State Election Commission seeking approval for the appointment of around 737 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers. Ahmedabad district accounts for over 12% of the total voters in the state and has a proportionate share of assembly constituencies.
