Over 13,000 kg of ghee seized by authorities in Gujarat
After the duplicate ghee row at Ambaji, suspicious ghee in large quantities was seized from Jamnagar and Ahmedabad.
The Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) seized a total of 13,849 kg of ghee worth ₹93 lakh after collecting 10 samples.
After getting leads on suspicious ghee manufacturing at Jamnagar’s Digvijay party plot, the special operation group (SOG) along with the FDCA raided the personal residence of Chirag Hariya on Dec 8.
During the raid, a total of 555 kgs of suspicious adulterated ghee packages of 15 kg and 10 kg were recovered from the house.
The department seized a total of 530 kg of ghee worth ₹2.65 lakh, and samples were sent to the laboratory for testing.

In Ahmedabad as well, FDCA raided two different locations, including Bakrol and Daskroi.
Sarthak Food Products, owned by Ankit Barot in Bakrol, was raided by the FDCA, where ghee packages of different brands were found, including ‘Ridham premium ghee’, and ‘Vachnamrut’. A sample of the essence used for flavouring of ghee was taken by the authorities.
Another raid in Ahmedabad city was initiated at Shri Harsh Dairy & Food Products Pvt Ltd, owned by Bharat Patel, in Dakroi’s Dhamatwan.
Samples of ghee and essence used in it were taken, and suspicious ghee was seized by the authorities.
