Over 100 students in Dehgam school suffer from sudden blurred vision, probe on

As many as 105 students of the J B Desai School in Gujarat’s Dehgam complained of blurry vision on Monday, raising alarm across the vicinity. The students complained of redness of the eye, blurry vision, and water eyes. Authorities are now investigating the incident in Gandhinagar.
Following the complaints, the school authorities contacted the public health centre, and the students were checked by medical staff.
The affected students were then sent to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, where their treatment began.
The affected students were immediately rushed to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, where they begun receiving the treatment.
Total 12 students were reported to have serious eye conditions. As per reports, the students’ health is currently improving, and after today’s check-up, they will gradually be allowed to return home.
Many students’ blood samples were also collected for testing.
The primary health centre in Dehgam has been kept fully operational, with a health team on standby in case any other students require assistance.
Preliminary information suggests food or water contamination, leading to the outbreak.
Food samples from the lunch meal consumed by the students were collected, along with water samples from the school, for testing.
Currently, all the students are under observation.
