Over 100 road diversions trouble commuters in Ahmedabad

Commuters in Ahmedabad are facing severe inconvenience as road diversions at more than 100 locations across the city continue to disrupt traffic flow.

According to civic data, a total of 126 road diversions are currently in place due to ongoing road excavation, repairs of damaged bridges and construction of new bridges. While earlier traffic congestion was largely restricted to peak hours, commuters now report traffic jams from morning till late evening.

Travel time on several stretches has increased significantly, with routes that earlier took around 10 minutes now taking 30 to 45 minutes.

Out of the total diversions, 26 are due to construction of new bridges, while 33 diversions are linked to underbridge works, bridge renovation and drainage projects, many of which have been ongoing for nearly six months.

In addition, 19 diversions are due to new drainage works, 13 due to drainage repairs and six due to the construction of RCC roads.

Daily commuters have expressed frustration over prolonged travel times and lack of relief, urging authorities to expedite work and improve traffic management until the projects are completed.
