Our biggest scholars were mostly saints: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan

Today, the Central University of Gujarat in Gandhinagar hosted ‘Bhartiya Gyan Parampara’, a national dialogue focusing on the Indian knowledge system. Arif Mohammed Khan, the governor of Kerala, delivered a lecture during the event.
Former IAS, Bhagyesh Jha in his introductory speech said, “The Indian knowledge system taught us that a common man who hasn’t learned is also very aware of himself.” He added, “KYC of the Indian knowledge system is that we are connected with each other, we are not different. We can not disconnect ourselves from the world.”
Vice chancellor of Central University of Gujarat, Dr Rama Shankar Dubey said, “Before achieving knowledge it is required to learn ethics. We need to take knowledge from our Vedas. Aryabhatt has given the principle of Earth movement and the movement of the moon (Chandrama), but we just remember Copernicus’s principle.” .
Addressing the conference, Khan said, “Our biggest scholar’s were mostly saints and spiritual wisdom is required to understand a human’s mind.” He added, “Education is a special period of any individual and also only given to humans.”
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, Khan said that “the goal of life is active knowledge and the goal of knowledge is to develop the capability to understand and see the diversity hidden behind the apparent unity.”
Khan also quoted Lord Buddha and said, “Why talk and regret about something that is beyond our understanding?”
Earlier, when asked about the attacks on international students at the hostel premises of Gujarat University, he said, “This is not acceptable in any place of India and is subject to objection.”
