Organ donations at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital touch 219, kidney donations reach 400 mark

Another organ donation at Asarwa Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad has taken the hospital’s total tally of organ donations to 219, while the number of kidneys donated has now touched 400.
According to officials, the 218th organ donation at Civil Hospital was carried out recently after a 22-year-old youth from Madhya Pradesh, admitted to the hospital’s ICU, was declared brain dead on November 7, 2025. The hospital’s organ donation coordination team counselled the patient’s family, who consented to donate his organs.
Through this noble gesture, two kidneys and a liver were transplanted into patients admitted at Civil Hospital, while the heart was successfully transplanted into a patient at a private hospital.
So far, Civil Hospital has received 723 organs through 218 donations, in addition to 156 cornea donations and 26 skin donations, taking the overall total to 905 organs and tissues.

With this latest donation, Civil Hospital’s organ donation record now stands at 192 livers, 400 kidneys, 18 pancreases, 71 hearts, 6 hands, 34 lungs, 2 small intestines, 156 corneas, and 26 skin donations.
