Orange alert issued in Rajkot nine other districts in Gujarat for June 27

After a downpour in Ahmedabad, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in 10 districts of Gujarat for Friday.

“Heavy to very heavy rain is likely in Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu,” said IMD on Thursday.

Moreover, light thunderstorms with lightning and surface wind 30-40 km/h is also predicted in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara and other districts.

Ahmedabad saw a dry Thursday after a heavy rainfall of four inches in Maninagar, Odhav, Vatva, Chakudiya, Viratnagar, Nikol, Ramol, and Kathwada on Wednesday.

Office-goers and residents struggled to return home, with many reporting being stuck for four to five hours. Several vehicles were left stranded under the Hatkeshwar Bridge, one of the worst-hit spots.

On Thursday, heavy rainfall was seen in Tapi, Surat, Navsari, Narmada and Vadodara. Notably, the weather was dry over Kutch, as per IMD bulletin.
