Operation Shield: Ahmedabad conducts 2nd civil defence preparedness mock drill

In a step to strengthen emergency preparedness and civil defence mechanisms after Pakistan’s attack following India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, Ahmedabad conducted its second comprehensive mock drill exercise under the banner ‘Operation Shield’ on Saturday at 5 pm.
The event, spearheaded by the Civil Defence Department, was joined by police, home guards, NCC cadets, fire, and health departments.
Detailed mock drill plan for Ahmedabad
The drills included–
1. Activation of hotlines and air raid sirens at Civil Defence MS Building to establish communication between Air Force and Civil Defence control rooms and activate centrally operated air raid sirens, headed by Harshad Nayak (Dy CW & Parade Commander)
2. General/silent recall of civil defence wardens at Sadar Bazaar, Army Cantonment Board Area, to mobilize wardens, youth volunteers, and stakeholders from NCC, NYKS, Scouts, and Guides to assist in civil defence tasks, headed by Alok Roy (Dy Chief Warden).
3. Air raids from enemy aircrafts, drones & missiles to simulate attacks and defensive protocols in case of enemy air raids, at Sadar Bazaar, Army Cantonment Board Area, headed by Brijesh Shah (Dy CW & QRT In Charge).
4. Total blackout exercise to implement blackout in civilian areas, excluding critical emergency services, headed by Manish Brahmbhatt (Div. Warden).
5. Drone attack and evacuation simulation to simulate a military station attack by enemy drones and execute evacuation of 20 simulated victims, headed by Jayesh Vegda (Dy CW).
6. Mass casualty incident simulation to respond to mass injuries, deploy medical teams, and arrange 30 units of blood for the injured, headed by Chirag Gawande (Dy Div. Warden).
The entire mock drill operation was supervised by Babubhai Zadafiya, Chief Warden, and PR Modi, Trained Instructor (PI Cadre), the coordinating officer for Ahmedabad is the Dy. Controller of Civil Defence.
