Only 37 of 99 promised cement roads built in Ahmedabad in four years

Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) continues to make lucrative promises to citizens but often fails to deliver. Four years ago, the administration announced the construction of 99 cement roads across 48 wards of the city. However, at the end of four years, only 37 roads have been completed.
The old city has been particularly neglected by the administration and ruling party leaders. In the Khadia ward, only one cement road has been built so far.
The original plan involved constructing 99 cement roads in different areas at a cost of ₹418 crore.
Old city ignored; only one cement road built in Khadia ward
According to ruling party office-bearers of the Municipal Corporation, a policy decision was passed in the 2021–22 annual budget to build cement roads in various wards of the city, following the Bengaluru model. The old city area, which had helped Ahmedabad earn the UNESCO World Heritage City status eight years ago, was expected to benefit significantly.
However, Khadia corporators say that only one cement road located in Jayendra Pandit Nagar of the Khadia ward has been constructed recently.
