Fake NCP donation scam

Amidst the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a scam was committed in the name of a political party. A fake account in the name of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was opened at a bank in Kalupur, duping people by posting an advertisement on social media offering a 100% rebate on income tax.

It is noteworthy that donations made to the NCP are exempt from income tax.

Bodakdev resident Hemang Shah, the party’s treasurer, learned about the fraudulent social media advertisement a while ago.

Along with this ad, a link was provided with bank details for online payment.

Donations were reported to have been received from many people on a large scale through this link.

Upon investigation, it was found that a dubious account was opened in a branch of a bank in Kalupur, which was named after the party, and online donations were collected in their name.

The police have registered a case and started a thorough investigation.
