One injured, 4 held after cross-firing between Gujarat SMC and accused in Bilimora

In a dramatic turn of events early on Tuesday morning, an encounter broke out between a team of the Gujarat Police's State Monitoring Cell (SMC) and a group of accused persons at Bilimora in Navsari district.

According to preliminary information, the exchange of fire took place when the SMC team attempted to intercept the accused. During the brief cross-firing, one of the accused sustained injuries, while four others were apprehended on the spot by the police team.

Officials said that three country-made pistols and 27 live rounds were recovered from the possession of the arrested individuals. The injured accused was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Police sources said the situation has been brought under control, and a formal complaint is being registered. Detailed information regarding the accused and the circumstances leading to the encounter will be shared after the registration of the FIR.

Senior officers from the SMC and Navsari district police have reached the spot, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the background and network of the accused.
