Several mediators revealed to be key players in Godhra NEET scam

Updated: Sep 13th, 2024

The Jay Jalaram School in Godhra has become the focal point of a scandal involving cheating in the NEET exam. Reports indicate that mediators from Mahisagar district were highly active, manipulating the system to help students pass the exam in exchange for money.

These mediators reportedly collected large sums from students exams and then handed over a portion of it to the school authorities.

It is alleged that these mediators accumulated significant wealth from their illicit activities over the years. Notable figures involved in this scheme include a doctor, a former principal of Jay Jalaram School, a tuition class operator, and a businessman.

Tushar Bhatt, a former teacher at Gyanmanjari, was involved in the scam. Before Gyanmanjari partnered with Jay Jalaram School, Bhatt taught Physics at Jay Jalaram School. Despite being suspended from Gyanmanjari on April 30, 2024, Bhatt was later appointed as the center superintendent for the NEET exam in Godhra.

While Bhatt was officially a teacher at Gyanmanjari, the CBI investigation revealed that he was not affiliated with Jay Jalaram School. Despite this, Purushottam Sharma, the city coordinator, appointed Bhatt as the center superintendent.

According to NTA regulations, only school teachers can be appointed as center superintendents, but it appears that Bhatt was given this responsibility as part of a broader conspiracy to facilitate cheating.
