Not a single death due to Malaria registered in Gujarat in two years

Two deaths reported in state among 28,360 cases in four years since 2019

Around 4,81,186 mosquito breeding spots identified and eliminated in 2023

Around 5.90 crore blood samples had been collected in Gujarat in the span of four years from 2019 to 2022 under the National Vector Borne Disease (VBD) Control Programme. Out of these, 28,360 samples were found to be malaria-positive. The state registered two deaths during this tenure, one each in 2019 and 2020. It is noteworthy that zero deaths were reported in 2021 and 2022.

Fogging and mosquito breeding spot elimination done statewide

Fogging of around 1.8 lakh houses was carried out, while 4,81,186 mosquito breeding spots were eliminated with the use of larvicide during the house-to-house surveillance. Out of the two rounds of disinfectant sprinkling in 2023, the first one was carried out in 319 villages in 21 Districts of the state. 444 Vector Control teams have also been deployed to prevent the spread of the diseases.

Malaria, Dengue and Chikungunya cases dipping in the state

After inspecting 1.51 crore people for malaria, 84 thousand for dengue, and 17 thousand for Chikungunya in the year 2022, it was registered that, as compared to 2021, malaria cases had dipped by 2.76%, a 39.1% dip in dengue cases found, and a significant dip of 74.1% was observed in Chikungunya cases in the state.
