No seniority list published for 8 years, 213 Taluka Development Officer posts vacant in Gujarat

The Gujarat government’s failure to publish a seniority list since 2017 has resulted in 213 Taluka Development Officer (TDO) posts remaining vacant in Gujarat. The seniority list was last published by the state government on April 10, 2017.

Meanwhile, more than 950 eligible Panchayat cadre employees who were due for  promotions have retired.

A total of 450 TDO posts have been sanctioned in the state, of which 237 posts are currently filled and 213 posts are vacant. More than 161 of the vacant posts are to be filled through promotion and the rest through direct recruitment.

As per rules, the seniority list is to be released every year in January, yet no new list has been released for the last eight years.

This approach has not only kept the important posts vacant, but qualified employees are also being  deprived of the due promotions.
