Nine LPG cylinder stolen, gas delivery worker duped in Nikol
A 23-year-old gas delivery worker has lodged a police complaint after nine domestic LPG cylinders worth over ₹8,000 were allegedly stolen from his rickshaw in Ahmedabad’s Nikol area by an unidentified man who had approached him seeking help late at night.
According to Nikol police, the incident took place during the night of May 18 near Atal Apartment in Nikol.
Bharatbhai Parmar, a resident of Odhav, stated that he works with a gas agency near Kathwada and delivers cylinders using an loading rickshaw registered in the name of a relative.
In his complaint, Parmar told police that around 11.30 pm on May 18, while he was repairing a puncture in his rickshaw near Sitaram Chowk in Krishnanagar, an unknown man approached him claiming he urgently needed a gas cylinder for cooking and promised to return it the next day.
Trusting the man, Parmar allowed him to accompany him in the rickshaw. The two then reached Atal Apartment in Nikol around midnight and parked the vehicle beneath Block No. 13.
The unidentified man allegedly asked Parmar to accompany him to the seventh floor of the building, claiming the flat was locked and that he would fetch the keys from downstairs. After waiting for nearly 15 to 20 minutes, Parmar returned to the parked rickshaw only to discover that nine Bharat Gas cylinders were missing.
Police said the stolen cylinders were valued at ₹920 each, taking the total estimated loss to ₹8,280.
Parmar later approached the police station with the original purchase bills of the cylinders and filed a complaint seeking legal action against the unidentified accused.
A case of theft has been registered and investigation has been handed over to Nikol police sub-inspector.
