Rajkot’s Gondal Chokdi bridge, recently constructed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), has developed serious structural defects, making it hazardous for commuters. A viral video shows that the iron expansion joint of the bridge has loosen, increasing the risk of accidents. The issue has sparked widespread concern, forcing authorities to take immediate action.

The bridge which connects Rajkot and Gondal witnesses heavy daily traffic. Commuters have reported that the loosened joint could lead to serious mishaps.

Following public outrage, repair work was initiated by NHAI. A supervisor from the repair team suggested that the damage may have been caused by an attempted theft of the iron plates. He also mentioned that similar incidents have occurred before, prompting the authority to escalate the matter to higher officials.

To prevent accidents, the Highway Authority has placed barricades and begun urgent repair work on the bridge.
