In a major initiative by the authorities, commuters on the Vadodara-Dahod route got a new MEMU (mainline electric multiple unit) train, which has regenerative braking.

Ranjan Bhatt, MP of Vadodara, and minister of state for railways, Darshana Jardosh, flagged off the train today, which will run between Vadodara and Dahod and back to Vadodara. Dr Vijay Shah, the president of the BJP in Vadodara, and Keyur Rokadia, the former mayor were also present on the occasion.

About the new MEMU

Speaking about the specifications of MEMU, Jardosh and Bhatt said that the train has the unique feature of a ‘regenerative braking system’ which generates electricity whenever the brakes are applied.

The train also has air spring technology like ‘Vande Bharat Express’ trains which uses compressed air instead of steel coils to provide support and absorb shocks. These technologies will provide smooth rides to the passengers when the train gains high speed.

Moreover, eight CCTV cameras were installed in each coach, along with LED displays.

It also has an announcement system installed in the coaches. Moreover, it has a bio-toilet installed in the train. There are various coaches, including ladies, first class, and general.
