The state Prohibition and Excise Department has revised the rates of foreign liquor and beer, a move that will increase the assessed value of goods seized by police during enforcement actions.

According to officials, the updated rates will now be used to calculate the value of confiscated liquor. The department has also announced revised prices for various brands available to permit holders and in licensed establishments.

Gujarat Police seize foreign liquor worth crores every year, with the total value determined on the basis of per-bottle rates fixed by the department. With the new circular issued for 2026–2027, prices have been increased by an average of around 10% compared to last year.

Officials said the revision will directly impact the valuation of cases registered during raids, with seized quantities now reflecting higher monetary figures. Permit holders purchasing liquor legally will also have to pay increased prices.

The department has made it mandatory for all licensed establishments to implement the revised price list over the next two years. The new rates will be taken into account in all future enforcement and valuation procedures.
