Nephew of BJP MLA caught running gambling den in Gujarat

Amid heightened political activity ahead of Gujarat’s local body elections, a gambling incident has surfaced from Matar taluka in Kheda district. In Bhalada village, the State Vigilance team reportedly uncovered an alleged gambling operation. The case has drawn attention as one of the main accused is believed to be the BJP MLA Kalpesh Parmar’s nephew.
According to reports, police received specific information about large-scale gambling taking place in an open field near Harsiddhi Faliya in Bhalada village. Acting on this tip-off, the state vigilance team conducted a surprise raid. Where, police cordoned off the area and detained 16 individuals allegedly involved in gambling activities.
The alleged operation is said to have been run by Rajesh alias Lalo Gulabbhai Parmar, who is believed to have organised gambling sessions by calling participants from outside the village.
The most striking aspect of the case is that the main accused is claimed to be a relative, specifically the nephew of a BJP MLA. While this connection is being widely reported, officials have not publicly confirmed the full extent of any political linkage. Nevertheless, the development has triggered political debate and speculation in the region, especially with elections approaching.
During the raid, the state vigilance team reportedly seized assets worth around ₹22.36 lakh, including ₹3.20 lakh in cash, mobile phones, and vehicles. All 16 individuals have been taken into custody, and a case has been registered at Limbasi police station. Further investigation is currently underway.
