Nepal Flash Floods: 18 Gujarat-Linked Tourists Remain Missing or Uncontactable

At least 18 people linked to Gujarat have been reported missing or uncontactable in Nepal following flash floods, with several among them holding foreign citizenship, according to a Gujarat government status sheet issued at 5 pm on August 27.

The list includes tourists from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Anand, Rajkot, Valsad, Surat, Kheda, Amreli and Gandhinagar. Several were travelling to Kailash Mansarovar, while others were in areas near the Nepal-China border and the Friendship Bridge.

Two Vadodara Tourists Uncontactable

Vadodara residents Kinnari Patel and Mihir Patel were travelling with Richa Tours Pvt Ltd for a Kailash Mansarovar yatra via Kerung.

The two were last contacted at around 4.51 am on August 26 and have not been traced since. The government record states that both are Ahmedabad residents, while also noting New Zealand citizenship of Indian origin.

Anand Tourists Were On Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Two people from Anand, Bimalkumar Patel and Jaiminaben Patel, were also reported uncontactable.

They were travelling with Namaste Nepal Trekking and Research Hub for a Kailash Mansarovar yatra. Their last contact was reported on the morning of August 26.

The status sheet identifies both as US citizens of Indian origin and gives their residence as Anand.

Ahmedabad Tourist Last Contacted Near China Border

Dr Utkarsh Gondaliya was reported missing after travelling to Kailash Mansarovar with Samrat Tours and Travels.

According to the status report, he was last contacted at around 8.30 am on August 26, when he was reportedly close to the China border immigration centre. His Ahmedabad residence is listed in the Memnagar area.

Tourists Near Friendship Bridge Among Those Untraced

Two other people, Jay Dinesh Kotecha and Roma Dilipbhai Intwala, were reported uncontactable from the Friendship Bridge and Bhote Koshi River area near Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border.

Kotecha is listed as being from Mumbai, with his father originally from Rajkot. Intwala is from Valsad.

The status sheet records that Intwala was later reported safe in Nepal after the Valsad Mamlatdar was informed of her whereabouts.

Three Surat Residents Reported Uncontactable

Pareshbhai Natvarlal Patel, Jyotiben Pareshbhai Patel and Minaxiben Sanjaybhai Ramani were travelling with Richa Tours for a Kailash Mansarovar trip.

All three were last recorded on August 26 and no contact had been established with them during the preceding 24 hours when the government compiled the report.

Pareshbhai and Jyotiben are listed as residing in the US, while Minaxiben is recorded as residing in Mumbai. Their Gujarat connection is listed under Surat.

Three Kheda Residents Arrived From Delhi

Umesh Bhogilal Patel, Akshaben Umesh Patel and Ishan Patel travelled from Delhi to Nepal by flight on August 25, reaching at around 7 pm.

The three have not been contacted during the 24 hours covered by the status report. Their residence is listed in Nadiad, Kheda district.

Umesh Patel and Akshaben Patel are recorded as Canadian citizens, while Ishan Patel is listed as an American citizen.

Gandhinagar Tourists Include Australian And US Citizens

Bhavinkumar R Patel, who was travelling with Kailash Journeys via Kyirong, was reported missing after last contact at around 5 am on August 26.

He is listed as an Australian citizen and a native of Gandhinagar.

The report also names Amita Amin, Tejal Patel and Jitendra Patel, who were connected with a Nepal trekking planner and were reported in the Bagmati area near the Friendship Bridge. All three are listed as US citizens.

18 Names Across Gujarat

The government status sheet lists 18 people in total from Ahmedabad, Anand, Rajkot, Valsad, Surat, Kheda, Amreli, Gandhinagar and Vadodara.

Of the 18, the report records multiple foreign citizens of Indian origin, including US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand citizens. One person from Valsad has been confirmed safe in Nepal.

The list was updated as of 5 pm on August 27, with authorities continuing to track the whereabouts of those who remain missing or uncontactable.
