Navrangpura burglary: 3 held, jewellery and foreign currency worth ₹17 lakh recovered

The Navrangpura police, along with the Local Crime Branch (LCB) Zone-1, have arrested three persons, including a minor, in connection with a housebreaking at Nakshatra Flat in the Navrangpura area of Ahmedabad earlier this month. Police said the accused were apprehended along with the stolen property.
The burglary was reported on February 9 between 5.30 pm and 7 pm, when unidentified persons allegedly broke the lock of the main door of a flat at Nakshatra Apartments, entered the premises and decamped with gold and silver ornaments and cash kept in a bedroom cupboard.
A case was registered at the Navrangpura Police Station under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
Police said that a joint team of Navrangpura police and LCB Zone-1 initiated an investigation. The teams examined CCTV footage from the surrounding locality, carried out technical analysis and gathered human intelligence inputs to identify the suspects.
Based on the leads, police traced and arrested the three accused and recovered the original stolen property, thereby detecting the offence within days.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
Faran Khan Pathan alias Teddy Madi (18), resident of Gomtipur, Ahmedabad.
Farhaj Mohmand Ansari (21), resident of Saraspur, Ahmedabad.
A minor whose identity has not been disclosed.
Property worth ₹17.24 lakh was seized from the trio, including gold and silver ornaments valued at ₹14.49 lakh, Foreign currency Dirhams and US Dollars equivalent to ₹2.25 lakh and a two wheeler valued at ₹50,000, which was used in the crime.
Officials said the detection was made possible through coordinated efforts of the LCB Zone-1 team and the Navrangpura police surveillance squad, including officers involved in technical tracking and field operations.
Further investigation is under way to ascertain whether the accused were involved in other similar offences in the city.
