Narol police seize 2 kg of marijuana, arrest repeat offender

The Narol police have arrested a 47-year-old man and seized nearly two kilograms of marijuana worth ₹98,800 during a patrol-led operation aimed at curbing narcotics trafficking in Ahmedabad, police said on Sunday.

As per the police, during the operation, the Narol Post Office NDPS team received a tip-off. Based on the information, and under the guidance of Police Inspector P C Desai of Narol Police Station, the team intercepted the suspect and recovered 1 kg and 976 grams of marijuana, valued at  ₹98,800.

The arrested accused has been identified as Ahmedkhan, son of Rehmatkhan, a 47-year-old casual labourer and businessman, a resident of Vatva.

A case has been registered at Narol Police Station under Sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is under way to ascertain the source of the contraband and possible links to a wider drug network, police said.

Police records indicate that the accused has a criminal antecedent, with multiple cases registered against him at various police stations, including Vatva, Kheda Town, Dholka, Adalaj, Isanpur, Dabhoda and Sola High Court police stations, involving offences such as theft, robbery and other serious crimes under the IPC, EPC and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Officials said Narol police would continue intensified checks and surveillance to prevent the trafficking of narcotics in the city.
