Narol police arrest burglary suspect, stolen valuables worth ₹1 crore recovered in Ahmedabad

The Narol police in Ahmedabad have arrested a 48-year-old man in connection with a housebreaking and theft case, recovering stolen property, including gold and silver jewellery and foreign currency, collectively valued at over ₹1 crore, officials said on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Malabhai Nathabhai Samecha, was apprehended following a targeted operation based on specific intelligence inputs. Police said the recovery was made from the Gandhinagar Sector-2 area, where the suspect had allegedly concealed the stolen valuables.

According to the police, the seizure includes gold and silver ornaments worth approximately ₹92.28 lakh and 7,600 US dollars, equivalent to around ₹ 7.14 lakh. Additionally, a Wagon-R car, a mobile phone, tools used for committing theft, and a broken locker believed to have been used in the crime were also recovered. The total value of the seized items is estimated at ₹1 crore.

The operation was carried out by a team from the Narol Police Station under the guidance of the Surveillance Squad.

Police officials stated that the accused has a long criminal history, with multiple cases of theft, housebreaking, and related offences registered against him across districts, including Kutch, Patan, Surendranagar, and Ahmedabad. He has also previously been booked under preventive detention laws.

The present case pertains to an offence registered at the Gandhinagar Sector-7 Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Investigators are now probing the extent of the accused’s involvement in other unsolved cases and attempting to identify potential accomplices.
