The construction of Ahmedabad’s Naroda Patiya bridge has been delayed for six months once again, leading to a ₹50 lakh fine for the contractor. Notably, the construction of the bridge began in 2023.
Earlier, the deadline was stretched to December 2026 after the ₹198 crore bridge ran into a deadlock over permission of felling the trees and routing of the bridge.
The issue was recently discussed in the meeting of the municipal standing committee where Chairman Kamlesh Patel has informed that they found inefficiency in the work which extended the timeline by six months.
The committee has fined Rachana Constructions over the issue.
On the other hand, the committee reviewed the pre-monsoon work and informed that Nikol's Madhumalati residences could experience flood like situation as the drainage and rainwater disposal work is only 40% completed.
Additionally, considering the traffic problems in Raipur, it was decided that the 15-meter TP road will be extended 24 meters long. Following the extension, 36 commercial and 6 residential units will face the demolition for this alternative arrangement.
