Nadiad Gold Robbery: Four Arrested Within Three Hours, ₹3.76 Crore Valuables Recovered

Viramgam police arrested four accused within three hours of a ₹3.70 crore gold robbery at Nadiad railway station, recovering stolen valuables worth ₹3.76 crore.

2.7 Kg Gold Snatched At Nadiad Station

The robbery took place around 1 pm on October 3, when Bharat Chaudhary, an employee of Grow More Bullions, arrived from Kolkata on the Howrah-Ahmedabad Express carrying 2.7 kg of gold.

Four unidentified men allegedly snatched the gold, valued at around ₹3.70 crore, and fled in a car. Chaudhary managed to photograph the vehicle and alerted the railway police.

Following the alert, the State Control Room mobilised teams from the Western Railway Police, Ahmedabad Rural LCB, Viramgam Town Police and Mandal Police. More than 50 personnel were deployed to block possible escape routes.

PI Dragged 500 Metres During Chase

The LCB traced the suspects car through its informant network. Police first intercepted an unregistered car near Khoraj on the highway and arrested one accused.

Based on his interrogation, police attempted to stop another car near Nilki village. The accused allegedly reversed the vehicle, rammed a police vehicle and tried to escape.

Viramgam Town PI S. A. Gadhvi caught hold of the robbers' car but was dragged for around 500 metres as the vehicle moved. He then managed to enter the moving car, apply the emergency brake and take control of the steering, stopping the vehicle and apprehending the accused.

Former Employee Allegedly Masterminded Robbery

Police identified Sawan Chaudhary as the alleged mastermind. He had previously worked for Grow More Bullions and was familiar with Bharat Chaudhary's travel schedule, train, coach and gold movements.

After leaving the company, Sawan started a paan parlour in Deodar and allegedly planned the robbery with three associates over four months. On the day of the robbery, he tracked the train's online location before reaching Nadiad to execute the plan.

Gold, Cash And Cars Recovered

Police arrested all four accused and recovered the stolen gold, five mobile phones, cash and two cars. The total value of the recovered property was ₹3,76,69,751.

The accused and recovered items were handed over to the Western Railway GRP for further legal action and investigation.
