Nadiad and Porbandar-Chhaya declared Municipal Corporations by Guj govt
Addressing the Gujarat state assembly today, finance minister Kanu Desai announced that the state’s Porbandar-Chhaya and Nadiad municipalities will be converted into municipal corporations.
Nadiad MLA Pankaj Desai presented a proposal for Nadiad to be recognised as a municipal corporation. This move could expose the region to several development opportunities.
A special preference was given to this constituency for being the birthplace of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Previously, Desai had announced the transformation of seven municipalities into municipal corporations during the budget session, which took place this month.
The seven recently transformed municipal corporations include Navsari, Gandhidham, Morbi, Vapi, Anand, Mehsana, and Surendranagar-Wadhwan.
With the addition of these two newly added corporations, Gujarat will house a total of 17 municipal corporations. These also include Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, and Collectorate-Dang.
