A major accident occurred near Baradiya, 8 km away from Dwarka in Gujarat, involving four vehicles — a private bus, two cars, and a motorcycle — on the evening of September 28.

A total of seven people have lost their lives, and at least 16 people were injured in the incident.

According to reports, the private bus, heading towards Ahmedabad from Dwarka, jumped the divider as the driver attempted to save a cow and a calf sitting on the road.

The bus then collided with a minivan, car, and a bike on the other side.

As a result, five from the bus, and two in other vehicles, died on the spot.

Moreover, 16 people sustained serious injuries, and some are reported to be in critical condition.

Deceased include:

1) Hetalben Arjunbhai Thakur (age 28, village- Kalol)

2) Priyanshi Maheshbhai Thakur (age 18, village- Kalol)

3) Tanya Arjunbhai Thakur (age 3 years, village- Kalol)

4) Riyanshi Kishanji Thakur (age 2 years, village - Kalol)

5) Viren Kishanji Thakor (village: Kalol)

6) Chirag Ranabhai Chasiya - (age 26, village- Bardiya)

7) An unidentified woman

Dwarka’s sub-divisional officer, police, fire brigade, and emergency services (108) rushed to the scene. A large number of bystanders and locals also came forward to help.

The injured were immediately taken to Dwarka Civil Hospital, Khambhaliya Hospital, and Jamnagar Civil Hospital for treatment.

Despite being a national highway, accidents frequently occur due to stray animals on the road. A lack of precautions and measures from the end of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and locals with livestock often leads to grave accidents.

Doctors at Dwarka-Jamnagar Civil Hospital were ordered to remain on standby. Khambhaliya MLA Mulubhai Bera, Jamnagar MP Poonam Maadam, Dwarka MLA Pabubha Manek, and other leaders, along with police officials, arrived at the scene.

Dwarka district In-charge Superintendent of Police Hardik Prajapati and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sagar Rathod, along with their team, initiated rescue and treatment efforts.
