More than 300 affected by food poisoning in Gujarat

More than 300 people were affected by food poisoning in Gujarat after consuming prasad (offerings to God) during a religious event at Sudamda Village in Sayla.
People of the Maldhari community fell sick after eating the lunch meal offered at the religious event. They were rushed to Sudamda Government Hospital, Dhandhalpur Government Hospital, and Sayla Government Hospital, with many also taken to private hospitals. Most of those affected were children.
More than five ambulances were kept on standby at the scene of the emergency.
Following the incident, the health department initiated an investigation and collected food samples, which revealed that buttermilk was the cause of the food poisoning.
