Gujarat has more than 3,000 patients of Hemophilia. Hemophilia is a genetic disorder in which the blood does not clot properly, leading to various complications.

There is no permanent cure for this disease, so individuals diagnosed with hemophilia must take preventive measures and receive timely treatment.

Hemophilia is a disease in which there is a deficiency of clotting factors, causing the blood to not clot quickly. There are a total of 13 types of clotting factors in the blood, and if factors 8 and 9 are defective, there is a possibility of hemophilia.

Hemophilia has three types: A, B, and C, and based on severity, there are three categories of patients: severe, moderate, and mild.

Around the world, 1 in 10,000 people are affected by hemophilia.

Hemophilia patients are given injections containing the necessary clotting factors to stop bleeding. Since 2012, the Gujarat government has started providing free injections to hemophilia patients at civil hospitals.

The cost of one injection for a hemophilia patient ranges from ₹25,000 to ₹30,000, and the government covers this expense. Over the past two years, more than 11,800 injections have been provided free of charge.

Hemophilia is a hereditary condition passed down from parents to their children.
