More than 1000 kite flyers from 50 countries to participate in International Kite festival 2026
The International Kite Festival 2026 is going to start on \January 12 at the Sabarmati Riverfront, which is going to be inaugurated by PM Modi.
On the occasion of Uttarayan, the Gujarat Tourism Department organises a festival every year in Gujarat, where people come from various countries and fly different types of kites togetherly in the state, the festival known as ‘International Kite festival’. This year, the festival will take place between 10th and 14th January.
In the 2026 Kite festival, there were around 1,071 kite enthusiasts going to participating, of which 135 kite flyers were from 50 different countries. Participants were from countries like Ukraine, Russia ,Colombia, and many more countries.
The Highest number of participants is from Chile, Columbia , and the Republic of Korea, with six kite flyers each, whereas countries like Indonesia - 5, Israel - 5, and Russia have 3 participants.
Among 1071 kite flyer participants, 65 are from 13 states of India, and 871 kite flyers are from 16 districts of Gujarat.
The IKF 2026 will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

January 10: Rajkot, Surat, and Dholavira
January 11: Shivrajpur, Statue of Unity (Ektanagar), and Vadnagar
January 12 -14, 2026: Ahmedabad (main celebration at the Sabarmati Riverfront)
January 13: Vadodara
January 14: Hanol and Palitana (along with ongoing events in Ahmedabad)
