More Gujaratis likely to be deported after Mehsana family reveals Jitu Patel sent 50 people illegally to US

A Patel family caught illegally entering the United States via the Canadian border has told the Indian authorities that a man named Jitu Patel from Kalol had arranged for their illegal entry to the US. The CBI subsequently arrested Jitu Patel from Kalol and launched a detailed investigation.
The Patel family from Mehsana –a man, his wife, and their son – were deported to India by US authorities and subsequently taken into custody. For the past four days, all three have been under interrogation at the CBI headquarters in New Delhi.
Jitu had previously smuggled around 50 people abroad from Gujarat using illegal means. Based on Patel’s ongoing interrogation, the names of people he illegally sent to the US are likely to be revealed.
If identified, those individuals may also face deportation from the US. According to CBI officials, Jitu used his network to help clients illegally cross the US through the Canadian border.
The CBI is now investigating how much Jitu charged per person for illegal entry and who else is associated with him. They are also looking into how many people he has helped enter the US illegally and where those individuals are currently located.
A major human smuggling racket had previously been exposed by Gujarat’s State Monitoring Cell, resulting in the arrest and imprisonment of 22 people.
Gujarat’s Bobby Patel was identified as the key operator of that racket. Masterminds Charanjit Singh, Munno Khatri, and Mahekan Patel have fled abroad. Charanjit Singh is from Punjab, and according to police sources, he is now in the US.
Authorities believe Mahekan Patel is also in the US, while Munni Khatri is believed to be in Canada. Red Corner Notices have been issued against all three, and extradition procedures are underway with both the US and Canadian governments. The CBI is also probing whether Jitu Patel has any connections with these accused.
