Morbi horror: Landlord sexually assaults tenant’s wife, minor child over pending rent, police arrest both

A shocking case of alleged sexual exploitation of a minor girl has come to light in Gujarat’s Morbi, where police have arrested the victim’s father and the landlord. The landlord had repeatedly raped the man’s wife and the minor daughter over pending rental dues. 

As per the police, the father had rented the house for ₹2000 monthly. Gradually, his business failed to flourish, which resulted in accumulated rent arrears spanning four months. 

In a disturbing solution, the man allegedly struck a deal with the landlord, permitting the 55-year-old landlord to sexually abuse his wife and his 13-year-old daughter to clear the pending rent amount. 

The incident came to light when the grandmother of the minor allegedly came to know about the assaults and filed a complaint on May 1. 

A case has been registered at the Morbi City A Division Police Station under charges of rape and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).

Although the landlord initially absconded, police said both he and the victim’s father were arrested soon after the complaint was lodged and were later sent to judicial custody.

Investigators also identified the involvement of a third person allegedly linked to the crime. The accused is currently absconding, and a search operation has been launched to trace him.

Police officials said a detailed probe was under way.
