Monsoon welcomes music movies and art this weekend

With rain drizzling through the weekend, Ahmedabad is all set to host indulging events this weekend including plays, music, film showcase and much more.

Kids' session: Temple Tales

‘Temple Tales: Discovering the Ancient Art of Temple Architecture’ is a fun-filled, interactive learning session specially designed for kids aged 7 and above. Scheduled for the evening of June 20 at 7.00 pm. This engaging session will explore the fascinating world of traditional temple design and its rich heritage, encouraging young minds to learn through stories, sketches, and creativity. Don’t forget to bring along your sketchbook and colours! The event is presented by Dheeraj Kailash Sompura, scripted and directed by Nidhi Joshi, and organised in association with Kalasmruti by SSCC.

Free Garba Workshop

Kalasmruti is hosting JHANJHAR – a free Garba workshop designed for all dance enthusiasts. With Navrtatri just a few months away, garba enthusiasts are all set to practice moves with energy, joy, and rhythm.

Music: Monsoon Tunes

Freebird Music presents: Monsoon Tunes, a cozy evening of music inspired by the rhythm of the rains. Join Ishan, Jimil, Smriti, and Ronak for a cozy, unplugged set filled with melodies that echo the rhythm of the monsoon - soft, stirring, and full of feeling.

Hindi play: Humare Ram

Humare Ram is a monumental theatrical production that has captivated audiences across India with its innovative portrayal of the epic Ramayana. Since its premiere, the play has successfully staged over 200 performances in more than 20 cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, attracting an audience exceeding 500,000 attendees. 

Prestigious venues such as the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), Siri Fort Auditorium, Kamani Auditorium, Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, NCPA have hosted this grand spectacle, underscoring its widespread acclaim.

The production features a stellar ensemble cast, with Ashutosh Rana portraying the iconic role of Ravan, Rahull R Bhuchar as Prabhu Shree Ram, Danish Akhtar as Lord Hanuman, Tarun Khanna as Lord Shiva, Harleen Kaur Rekhi as Mata Sita, and Karan Sharma as Surya Deva. The original soundtrack is enriched by compositions from celebrated artists such as Ashutosh Rana, Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, and Kailash Kher, elevating the theatrical experience to a grand musical spectacle.

Enclosing the dynamic miniature paintings is a structured world of order. This workshop explores the ‘grammar’ of that order, beautifully illustrated through ornate geometric borders. They not only learn to design their own patterns but also develop the skills to continue exploring independently.
