As early rainfall hit Gujarat this time, Ahmedabad and other districts got mild relief from the scorching heat this week.

Despite light rain in Ahmedabad and a decrease in temperature to 40.5°C on June 10, humidity in the city prevails at 67%.

While the city's central areas received light rainfall, Thaltej, Bhadaj, Chandkheda, and New Ranip received 10-12 mm rainfall around 10-10.30 on the night of June 10.

In Usmanpura, 7 mm of rainfall was witnessed.

Today, rain or thundershowers by the evening are likely in Ahmedabad.

Rainfall across Gujarat also resulted in the death of one person in Saurashtra.

30-year-old Amraram Botala was travelling in his car to Amreli’s Babra to get diesel when his car was swept away in a flash flood on the evening of June 9. With heavy rainfall of  three inches, and the sudden surge of water in the river caused the flood.

Widespread rains lashed many areas of Amreli district, prompting farmers to begin sewing preparations. On June 10, continuous rainfall for two days struck Khambha, Dhari, Savarkundla, Lathi, Damanagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Rajula, and Jafrabad on the coastal belt.

The monsoon is set to arrive in Gujarat earlier this year as compared to last year- June 25. The monsoon is 10-12 days early this time in India as on June 23 last year, it had reached Maharashtra but this time, it entered the state on June 11.

In the last 24 hours, there has been rain in 72 talukas of Gujarat. Along with this, the wind speed has also increased. In the last 24 hours, a mini-cyclone blew at a speed of 70 to 75 km/h in Bhavnagar and Amreli.

With the arrival of the monsoon, farmers in Saurashtra have also started preparing for sowing crops. The government machinery has largely completed the pre-monsoon work.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast scattered rains in the state including Saurashtra. According to the department, the monsoon will gradually increase in the state.
