Miscreant breaks into newlywed's car at Sabarmati Riverfront steals valuables over rs 1.8 lakh

In a daring theft, an unknown miscreant broke into a Hyundai Verna car belonging to a newlywed couple at Sabarmati Riverfront, making away with valuables, cash, and personal documents worth approximately ₹1.8 lakh.

Faham Tirmizi (27), a resident of Ellisbridge and a businessman running construction and café ventures in Ahmedabad, in his complaint stated that the incident took place on the night of October 12, 2025, at Event Centre Block-A, Sabarmati Riverfront.

Faham told police that he had married at Hotel Rene Science, Sola, on October 11, 2025, and hosted a wedding reception on October 12, attended by around 2,000 guests at the Event Centre. Guests had presented gift packets, jewellery, and sealed envelopes containing cash to the couple. The gifts were temporarily placed in the couple’s vehicles: a Rubicon Jeep and a Hyundai Verna belonging to Faham’s father-in-law.

Around midnight, a family friend, Ramiz Malek, discovered that the rear window of the Verna had been smashed, and numerous items had been stolen. Among the missing items were:

  • A purse containing cash of approximately ₹1 lakh, an Aadhaar card, a PAN card, a driving licence, an election card, and debit cards.
  • A gold jewellery set worth around ₹50,000.
  • A bag containing multiple sealed envelopes of cash, some gift boxes, etc
  • The total estimated loss is ₹1.83 lakh was stolen from the car.

The FIR lists the offences under Sections BNS, and the Sabarmati Riverfront West Police have registered the case and commenced an investigation to trace the thief and recover the stolen items.
