Minor mishap on SG Highway triggers heavy congestion

A minor accident on the SG Highway stretch near YMCA Road on Thursday morning led to significant traffic congestion, causing a halt of nearly half-an-hour.
According to the Ahmedabad Traffic Police, two vehicles were involved in a low-impact collision around 7.30am, following which both car dirvers stopped in the middle of the carriageway to assess the damage. The brief standstill quickly escalated into a bottleneck on one of the city's busiest corridor.
Commuters reported slow-moving traffic stretching over several hundred metres, with vehicles inching forward until police personnel arrived at the spot and cleared the obstruction. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Traffic police said the mishap was resolved swiftly, but the sudden halt resulted in temporary gridlock on the YMCA flyover approach. Normal flow was restored within 30 minutes.
