Ahmedabad Metro runs as scheduled after services were affected due to cable theft

Ahmedabad Metro officials reported that in the East-West corridor, the train services were affected on Thursday morning between Apparel Park to Old high Court due to theft of cables last night between Shahpur to Old High Court Section.
Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) staff with the help of Ahmedabad Police and other contracting agencies restored the affected section by replacing the cables at 1.26 pm and regular train services were restored at 1.37 pm on East-West corridor as per regular train operation schedules.
According to sources, electrical cables powering the metro line were stolen, leading to a shutdown of services. Passengers traveling were forced to rely on private transport as a result.
However, after a short delay, the operations were resumed as per schedule.
Last month, GMRC Limited announced the extension of the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro route, with addition of seven new stations for commuters.
The metro train service was extended from Motera station to Secretariat in Gandhinagar. Along with this, seven new stations were been added to make travel on this route more convenient.
New stations at Koteshwar Road, Vishwakarma College, Tapovan Circle, Narmada Canal, Koba Circle, Sector-10, and Secretariat in Gandhinagar were added to the existing route.
