MBA and architecture course fees skyrocket in Gujarat
The new three-year fee structure for 101 private colleges in Gujarat, effective from last year, has been announced; the highest fee increase is 80% for Master of Business Administration (MBA) programmes and 55% for the architecture courses.
In 2023, 510 colleges requested a fee increase of up to 5%, which was publicly declared based on an affidavit application. Meanwhile, 101 colleges sought an increase of more than 5%. Regulations allowed for a 5% increase due to the pandemic and an additional 5% in the new cycle, totalling a 10% increase.
Therefore, fees for the 101 colleges were set to rise by more than 10%, necessitating in-person inspections that took a year. On July 30, after the start of the 2024-25 academic year, the new fees for these 101 colleges were announced.
Last year, a total of 621 private colleges offered various technical courses including degree engineering, diploma engineering, pharmacy, diploma pharmacy, Masters in Engineering (ME), M Pharm, MBA, Master of Computer Applications (MCA), Bachelor of Architecture, Masters of Planning, and hotel management were registered in the state.
Due to the pandemic, the fee determination process was not conducted earlier, and the process for determining fees for the three years from 2023-24 to 2025-26 was to be carried out last year.
