Mandap for PM Modi’s roadshow collapses near airport circle as winds sweep Ahmedabad

A sudden spell of strong winds disrupted preparations in Ahmedabad ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled roadshow. The mandap erected near the airport circle, meant for the event, collapsed on Sunday night.
Additionally, several banners put up along the airport road were blown away.
The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) sprang into action as soon as the damage was reported. Deputy municipal commissioners rushed to the spot, assessing the situation and coordinating with their teams to begin immediate repairs.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on May 26 and 27, during which he will launch and inaugurate a series of development projects across Dahod, Bhuj, and Gandhinagar, cumulatively worth more than ₹77,000 crore.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister will begin his Gujarat tour in Dahod on May 26, where he is scheduled to arrive around 11.15 am.
This marks his first trip to the state after Operation Sindoor that targeted terror launch pads in Pakistan as well as Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. A grand welcome is being planned in Ahmedabad, with a massive roadshow scheduled in the evening of May 26.
The roadshow, expected to draw lakhs of supporters, will span a 2-km route from Airport Circle to Indira Bridge. Extensive preparations are currently underway. To avoid traffic issues during the roadshow, traffic guidelines have already been released, outlining which roads between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar will be closed and the alternative routes available.
